Dr. Christopher Garrison, EdD., LCPC

About Me

Hello, my name is Dr. Chris Garrison and thank you for checking out my profile! Choosing a therapist is an important decision, and one which should not be lightly taken. Therefore, I hope the following information about me helps. I am a doctorate-trained Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). I have a doctorate and master’s degrees in Counseling Psychology with 34 years of post-graduate experience treating children, adolescents and adults, including couples. Moreover, I have several board clinical national certifications and I also hold two diplomate credentials in co-occurring, clinical and trauma counseling.

I specialize working with individuals who are struggling with anxiety/pain attacks, impaired coping skills, unresolved childhood pain, relationship issues, heart-ache, grief, sadness, trauma related symptoms, and LGBTQ issues. To be honest with you, I work best with those who are invested in change. The bottom line is I love what I do, and I cannot imagine doing anything else but supporting people to change and grow.

My therapeutic approach is supportive, respectful and solution-focused. My primary clinical orientation is psychodynamic. In order to move you forward with your goals, occasionally “old” and yet, familiar patterns of thinking, feeling and behavior may need to be identified and worked through. The bottom line is for you to resolve your issues so you may experience fewer conflicts in your life. After all, many of us want a life filled with inner peace and joy, and that’s what I want for all of my patients. I welcome you to contact me, and I look forward to working with you!

Dr. Garrison is thoughtful, professional and has helped me more than I could have ever imagined when I started this journey.

Written by S.A. on Jun 05, 2020 after counseling with Christopher for 1 month on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, grief, intimacy-related issues, sleeping disorders, self esteem, career difficulties, and coping with life changes

I have had four session with Dr. Garrison over the course of a month. This was my first time in therapy and my main reason to have therapy was because of a difficult issues I was facing at the time which was causing me to have anxiety, inability to make decisions, fear and loss of self-esteem. Dr. Garrison was fantastic with all his support and giving me advice on how to manage my issues. There had been times when I was going through a particularly difficult time and had contacted Dr. Garrison during the weekend, and he was kind enough to reach out to me on his days off and give me guidance. Talking to him over video call and also being able to write what i was going through really helped me to express my feelings and i felt very comfortable sharing all my personal details with Dr. Garrison.

I would totally recommend Dr. Garrison and I can not Thank You him enough for all his help and support. I truly appreciate how he helped me to get out of my dark place just in 4 sessions and i hope to take on his advice and continue to develop and deal myself.

I will miss working with you and THANK YOU!!!

Dr. Garrison is a great listener but also asks questions that make me stop and thin k about whatever may be the thing I am trying to process. Very caring and knowledgable and no judgement---I really feel I have found the perfect match for me and for the issues I am facing now. Thank you!!!
