About me

I have been practicing as a therapist for 4 and a half years. I spent the first 3 years working with high-risk youth who were on the verge of out-of-home placement. In my most recent year and a half I’ve continued to work with children and teens who have less acuity. While I have primarily worked with children and adolescents, I have also worked with young adults who are making that transition into being out on their own. I feel that my relaxed personality allows for teens to feel more willing to engage. I take the time to build rapport and will also push when necessary. I believe that everyone deserve a safe space to talk about their concerns, emotions, and experiences. I have experience with children and adolescents who have behavioral concerns, self-harming behaviors, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, family conflicts, and peer conflicts. My approach to treating these different issues is to assist the client in building their coping skill toolbox and to provide space for the client to talk openly about their experiences and emotions. While my previous roles have been with children and adolescents, I appreciate the opportunity to broaden my scope and work with adults. I am open and accepting to the LGBTQ community as well and understand on a personal level, the difficulties that can be experienced. I have my Bachelor’s in Social Work from Appalachian State University and my Master’s in Social Work from Western Carolina University. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and am an LCAS-A. I am also in the processing of obtaining a certification in TF-CBT.

Abigail is a fantastic therapist, I’ve only been working with her for a few weeks now but I’ve already come to many realizations. She very easy to talk to and has a friendly energy! I had no problem opening up to her. She is also very good at just letting me talk and get stuff out with out Interrupting while also giving wonderful advice and support! I highly recommend her as a therapist.
