Whitney White is a board certified and licensed professional counselor in Texas where she operates her own virtual private practice. She has devoted almost a decade to research and writing in the fields of clinical mental health counseling and psychology. At present she is working to assist BetterHelp with their free online resource for mental health and wellness at BetterHelp.com/advice in addition to providing psychotherapy online with clients all over the world.
Whitney has worked in both the public community mental health setting and the private practice settings with both children and adults. She specializes in treating anxiety-based problems, depression, relationship issues and loss, boundaries, emotional regulation, and borderline personality disorder. She began working in the online environment in 2014 with a pilot program serving very rural areas of Texas that otherwise had no access to qualified and licensed mental health services. After seeing the benefits of online access to licensed therapists, she chose to continue this work by offering services via video, call, and chat.
As a writer and contributor to multiple online publications, including Counseling Today Online and the American Counseling Association’s blog project, Whitney has covered a multitude of topics, demonstrating her dedication to advocacy and service in the mental health field.
Whitney holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. During her graduate program she participated in action-based community research on the mental and emotional effects of hunger as an issue in Texas, as well as action-based research on suicide prevention and aftercare. She has devoted additional time to the study of dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, compassion fatigue, and religion and spirituality in counseling.
