About me
I earned my undergraduate degree in Anthropology at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia (southern girl in an Illinois world). After which I attended the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine where I completed my Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work. I hold a license as an Illinois Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am working towards licensing in Georgia and I am also certified as a substance use counselor by the Illinois Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse.
I began my social work career as a mental health and substance use counselor in Highland Park, Illinois. After 2 years, I shifted my career focus to the field of Medical Social Work. Additionally, I am part of a private practice where I offer psychotherapy in Northfield, Illinois. My areas of clinical interest include: trauma, chronic health condition, substance abuse, mental illness and managing interpersonal relationships.
I believe in a client centered and solution focused approach. I utilize a variety of treatment approaches including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy to treat relationship conflict, depression, anxiety, PTSD, adjustment disorders, substance use, chronic illness, mental illness, cultural conflicts and life transitions.
