Warm welcome! I am thrilled that you took the first step in healing and self-discovery. Whether you suffer from depression and anxiety or just only needing someone to talk to, finding the right therapist is not an easy process. Hopefully, you can find useful information about me on this page to decided if we are a good match.
I am a licensed clinical social worker in New York State. I have been a mental health therapist for over 15 years. My experience in treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, and trauma-related symptoms is extensive. I have had the privilege of working with various clients of all ages and all walks of life through the Mobile Crisis Team, a college counseling office, and in my own private practice office. Although my approach is eclectic, I have seen great results from brief therapy modalities such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. I focus on developing skills to manage and navigate your life so you can thrive. Also, I use other cutting edge methods such as emotional freedom technique and energy psychology as appropriate. You can find out more about those methods here: https://www.energypsych.org/page/AboutEPv2
In addition to being a therapist, I am a yoga practitioner and received my yoga teacher certificate in 2014. My practice of yoga helps me to become more intuitive and mindful in my approach with my clients.
I attend professional development training in various therapeutic approaches. Some of my past training include Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I am also a Level 2 practitioner of Energy Psychology. The most recent retreat/training was with a combination of yoga and transpersonal psychology.
I am active on my Facebook group page. I post helpful tips for mental wellness and personal growth. Check out
Together, we will discover what works for you. I will keep you motivated, inspired, and hopeful as we move through a difficult time.
I look forward to our healing journey together.

Aiko is very personable and uh understanding. There is no judgement and she is relatable.
Aiko listens in a caring, supportive, non judgmental manner which makes it easy to open up to her. She has a great sense of humor and is very warm yet she can confront me on my issues. I have benefitted greatly by working with her. I would highly recommend her.
Aiko is very approachable, knowledgeable, and helpful. Speaking with her gives me clarity in dealing with my issues. It doesn’t hurt that she relates to my issues as a woman and an immigrant.
Aiko is helping a lot. She is nonjudgmental, listens to my concerns, and offers actionable strategies to help myself between sessions. It took a couple of chat sessions to clearly identify areas to work on but now I feel like we're on the same page. I also appreciate that Aiko suggested moving to phone sessions--I find them much more productive.
I reached out for help at a time when my anxiety was very high and Aiko has helped me since to become a more calm person and also to express myself and analyse my surroundings and my reactions to them in a more healthy way. She is a very good listener and a very patient person. She has a great way of managing to untangle your story and shed light on the important parts of it. She has helped me a lot and I appreciate the time spent together during our sessions!
My experience with Aiko Takemura has been wonderful. She is very compassionate and caring and allows me to express myself, without judgement. She is creative in providing me with a variety of tools to help me cope with my issues. In addition, she has a warm and friendly demeanor which goes far in putting one at ease....which ultimately makes it that much easier to share one’s struggles. I highly recommend video sessions with Aiko...and she has been very responsive to texts within the app as well. Very happy with my experience.
Aiko is so insightful and truly listens to your concerns. She speaks in a very respectful and supportive manner which makes you feel encouraged and capable. She provides new and different perspectives and offers relevant and helpful advice.
Great listener, patient open to ideas, helps you talk things through, excellent!!!
I like how Aiko listens and I feel we are more like peers. She's attentive and cognizant of alternative practices.
She was very helpful.
Aiko is helping me deal with a lot. She is very good at seeing what you mean and providing a good base of logic without being at all judgemental.
Aiko is fantastic. She's engaging, cognizent, asks good questions and always seems to offer a broader perspective of whatever issues you might be facing. She seems to know where your head's at and what you can do about it. I trust Aiko, and I value her opinion.
She is very caring and very understanding. She listens attentively and offers practical solutions to solve the root of the problem. I look forward to her intuitive and well though out solutions each week. I enjoy knowing that she isn't giving the same treatment to everyone. She has a real individual approach.
I've been more even-keeled and less stressed since beginning sessions with Aiko. She's an empathetic, calming and objective presence in my life, where I can drop all of the agendas and thought processes I have to uphold and entertain with everyone else I know. It's such a relief knowing that I can go to someone with my problems and really be listened to and heard without any ulterior motives.
Aiko is a fantastic therapist and I have felt comfortable with her from day one. I've never had a therapist I felt was very effective with me, but I think this format helps and Aiko is wonderful at messaging and making time for live sessions when needed. She is compassionate but not overly so and she gives guidance or affirmation when needed.
Aiko is very on point with what help I need and very easy to understand.
My understanding is that she is very sympathetic and understanding, I feel like she listens to me and understands how I'm feeling. She provides good feedback and I feel better after taking to her.
Aiko has been an excellent counselor. Very insightful and easy to talk to.
Thanks for the help and knowledge.
Aiko is an amazing counselor! She really helped me work through a trauma I had experienced and come up with some strategies for moving forward with my life. Thanks Aiko!
Aiko Takemura was extremely helpful to me. She is a caring and professional therapist with great insight.
Excellent advice / analytical skills, gets right to the point and works through with you at a comfortable pace without wasting time. Lets you think and see for yourself!
She is wonderful! I came to her with work-related stressors and she really helped me to develop a more well-rounded picture of how other life areas truly were impacting my work life. Extremely kind and immensely helpful.
Aiko is a wonderful human being. She really shows she cares and is great at follow up. I am working with her on my anxiety and relationship issues and feel that we are making good progress.
For me, BetterHelp's online system is better than going to see someone directly (face to face) as I can reach out more regularly, and get thoughts/actions back quickly. I have time to process them, and enact them. I don't have to wait a week for the next appointment, by which time I have forgotten everything.
Excellent! Aiko makes me feel as though she's really concerned. I definitely appreciate her!
Turly a helping hand with a professional and cating output on what matters.
Akiko Takemura is helpful and she's always there, which makes her approachable. She's also kind and sympathizes with how I feel.
Niko is helpful and caring.
Aiko is a wonderful counselor. I can tell her anything and she never judges or offers her opinion. She guides me to examine my feelings and move forward. She has been an invaluable ally in this time of transition in my life.
Thank you Aiko!
Aiko is extremely easy to talk to and attentive.
I've seen a few therapists in the past few years and Aiko is by far the best. She is attentive and gives incredibly useful guidance and support. She has been an immense help as I have been going through some rough times. Anyone ho gets the chance to work with her is a lucky duck (and I don't use the term 'lucky duck' frivolously!).
Aiko is great at giving me advice without judgment and she's very supportive in what decision you make.
I think Aiko is a great counselor. I got in touch with her at a time when things were looking really bad for me, and she saw me through those times with a capable hand.
Also BetterHelp is a really good platform because I get responses within 24 hours. Normally I would have to wait days or weeks to see my counselor.
