About Me

Greetings! My name is Akwete and I am a Licensed therapist in the state of Indiana. I have over 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents, couples, adults and families. My approach to treatment is a client-centered, strength-based approach. I have worked with a diverse range of issues which include, trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship, parenting and substance abuse issues.

My counseling style is warm and interactive. I pride myself on being compassionate, attentive and respectful. One size does not fit all so my approach to treatment varies greatly on the client, reason(s) for seeking counseling and the overall goal(s) for treatment. Although many of my interventions are rooted in the cognitive behavioral framework, I will tailor our sessions to meet your specific and unique needs.

Deciding to pursue therapy can be a difficult and courageous decision to make. You've conquered your first step in seeking help by viewing my profile! One motto that I believe in is “When things change inside you, they change around you.” If you are ready to experience the positivity that change can bring forth in your life, do not hesitate to reach out.

I look forward to working with you!

Simply an amazing counselor. Someone who can support, shed light, hold you accountable, listen, smile, relate and give actionable suggestions.

I really enjoy and look forward to my sessions with Akwete - she is so caring, compassionate and open, and she asks questions to help me process my specific situation. It’s clear that she genuinely tries to understand my experience and help me find a solution that is best for me, which I appreciate a lot.

Akwete is such a great counselor! I feel comfortable sharing things with her, she truly hears what I’m saying and actually has good, personalized advice on things to work on. I don’t ever feel like she’s giving me a textbook answer, it’s always applicable to my situation. Sometimes they are hard but I definitely feel like I’m moving in the right direction. I like that she doesn’t overwhelm me with things to work on and we just take things one at a time. I also love how she makes sure I’m doing okay before we hang up, it shows she really cares! I truly feel great after we talk! She’s the best :)
