Hello my name is Alan Goodstat and I am a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker practicing in Florida. I am also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina. I have been providing psychotherapy for a wide variety of issues and populations for over 20 years. I graduated from Columbia University in New York City in 1990 with a Master in Social Work with an emphasis on Clinical work. For the majority of my career I have focused on addictive and mood disorders, assisting individual with mostly addiction, anxiety and depression concerns.
I would describe my approach as providing supportive therapy, with the focus on problem solving, giving the individual permission to make their own decisions and identify positive self-talk and beliefs to ensure growth and a successful outcome. The ultimate goal of therapy is to make it a corrective experience, where the learning can be applied in your daily living.
Change is difficult, however, through commitment of the individual and support of the therapist a positive lifestyle and beliefs can be integrated into the individuals belief system.
