About me

Hi, I am a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in Massachusetts with 8 years of experience in the field. I hold a Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling from University of Massachusetts Boston, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Psychology from Tufts University. My professional experience so far has been mainly in treating people with severe persistent mental illnesses such as depression, bipolar affective disorder, ADHD, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, schizophrenia spectrum disorders, and substance use disorders. I have extensive experience working with people from diverse backgrounds, people of color, immigrants, people with physical and mental health disabilities, and people in the LGBTQ+ community. I am a strong believer in harm-reduction approaches and having a compassionate, non-judgmental outlook. My approach is person-centered, humanistic, trauma-informed, and draws from mindfulness-based therapies as well as motivational interviewing techniques.

The past two years in particular have put a tremendous strain on all of us and our coping resources. Many of us are facing life changes, problems, or symptoms they've never experienced before. I commend you for having the courage to take these first steps towards self-care and healing. I look forward to meeting you, wherever you're at right now, and forming a therapeutic relationship based on trust and mutual understanding.

I am available for chat, email, and phone/video sessions.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Alex Bayne. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Alex was amazing! Before I started therapy, I was so anxious about almost everything in my life. I was constantly doubting myself and the people around me. He helped me not only fix that problem, but get to the root of it and really work to fix it rather than just helping with the symptoms now for them to come back again later. Whenever I would struggle or I just needed to vent about something, Alex was there. He is so helpful, supportive, and he truly cares about you as a person and a patient. 10 out of 10 would recommend!

Alex helped me find the answer by asking myself those questions only we can answer. I was able to help myself with his guidance. I still have far to go bit every day is easier knowing I have someone in my corner with a good head on his shoulder to provide support that many aren't capable of giving . I'm so grateful to his attentiveness
