Hello and welcome! Thank you for taking a few moments to read about me. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in both Montana and Illinois. I have over 8 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults with varying backgrounds. The majority of my experience is working with depression, anxiety, trauma, parent-child relationships, couples work and self-esteem. I currently have DAYTIME availability for live sessions.
Reaching out for help is the most important step towards your path to healing. The most important aspect of my work with you will be to build a positive, trusting therapeutic relationship in which we can together work through whatever difficulties you may be facing. I believe in setting collaborative goals with my clients to help them with their areas of need, while also empowering them to use their strengths to overcome difficulties.
My counseling style combines strength-based, cognitive-behavioral, and solution-focused approaches to help individuals achieve their therapeutic goals. Identifying one's strengths and coping skills that can be used to help work through various issues is an important part of my therapy approach.
I truly value each individual therapeutic relationship and fully empathize with the different emotions a client may experience throughout treatment. I believe that each individual has the ability to overcome struggles but that sometimes having additional support in the form of therapy can help one to better identify and recognize the coping skills and strengths they already possess.
You have taken the first step in creating a healthier, happier you and I would be honored to help you in that journey! Whether you feel completely overwhelmed by life or are just looking for some support, things can get better as long as you are willing to take that first step towards getting help! There is always hope. Sometimes you just have to dig deep to find it. I look forward to working with you!

Alex is a wonderful listener and asks very insightful follow-up questions. Alex has a genuinely sincere demeanor and offers a very supportive and collaborative environment. She is extremely compassionate and offers a brilliant perspective that you may have not previously considered or reflected on. She emanates kindness and validation.
Alex cares, listens, and get to the root of the problem. I feel enriched, motivated, and helped.
Alex is so understanding and nonjudgmental. I can easily open up to her about anything and everything. I only wish I started counseling sooner.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Alex Petrino. She is professional and caring, and her responses make you reflect and evaluate.
Alex is easy to talk to, a good listener and very understanding, helpful and encouraging. I have really appreciated her help.
Alex is great, she listens very well, responds to intimate problems of my life with pose and understands my problems well. She is also very patient with me which I greatly appreciate.
Before speaking with Alex I felt like a walking anxiety attack. She has helped me cope and manage my anxiety better than I ever thought was possible. Alex makes talking and trusting her very easy, and never makes me feel judged or ridiculous. I am so thankful for Betterhelp and being connected with her.
Alex is a very nice counselor. She helps you work through you thoughts/feelings by asking questions when you can't seem to work your head around things. She also checks up on you and sends pertinent articles and worksheets. I have not had many sessions, but I have noticed some small differences in my thought processes already.
