Alexa Adkins

About Me

Hello, my name is Alexa Adkins. I am a licensed profession clinical counselor and a licensed independent chemical dependency counselor. I received a bachelor's degree in psychology from The Ohio State University and a master's degree in clinical mental health counselor from Easter Michigan University. During my internship hours, I was able to work and gain experience in a private practice/ college counseling setting in addition to working in an elementary school. For the last three and a half years I have worked steadily in a community mental health setting. During that time, I have worked primarily with adults who struggle with dual diagnosis issues. I have extensive experience working with a variety of mental health and substance use disorders. Some of strong competencies include treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, relationship, and transitional issues. I absolutely love what I do and helping people in general. I was drawn to this field at a young age. When I entered college, I weighed a few career path options and settled upon becoming a clinical counselor. My theoretical approach with clients is eclectic and individually tailored to my client's needs. I pull primarily from cognitive behavioral, solution focused, person-centered, and motivation interviewing techniques. It is my pleasure to help clients obtain their personal version of wellness and stability.
