About me

Hey there! I’m Alex, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who has been working with people from all walks of life for over 10 years. Over that time, I have been able to work with clients to cope with and combat difficulties with depression, bipolar, trauma and abuse, stress and anxiety, effective parenting, and strained relationships. I can also be here to just listen, offer a respectful ear and dialogue to sort through a period of uncertainty, or help you recover from 2020 just being the worst ever.

My approach to counseling could be described as a mashup of Adlerian, Cognitive-Behavioral, Humanistic, and Dialectical-Behavioral Therapies. What this means in real-world terms is that our initial sessions will focus on building a meaningful connection, and developing an understanding of how you see yourself and the way you relate to the world around you. From there, we’ll shift towards building a treatment plan (think road map) together, which keeps us on course towards your goals. But we can always metaphorically stop off the trip to see the World’s Largest Ball of Yarn if life decides that it will pop up along the way.

I tend to ask insight-oriented questions paired with some reflection about how our brains are wired to work. I’ve found that this approach helps us start to think about our problems and situations in ways we may not have believed possible. My approach combines this understanding with action-oriented tools and techniques so that there's something you can actively do to start making the changes in life that matter to you.

I’ve lived all over the US, from the beaches of Florida to the mountains of North Carolina and Las Vegas, and my spouse and I currently call St Paul home with our two profoundly spoiled corgis. When I’m not seeing clients, I’m usually balancing creative approaches to cooking, performance nutrition, and a healthy lifestyle.
