About Me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's Degree in Social Work through the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. As a mental health provider, I believe in the importance of integrating the mind, body, and spirit of each individual. I am dedicated to providing a safe, warm, and non judgmental environment for each of my clients.
In my practice, my experience has been treating children and families that have experienced trauma, such as sexual abuse, physical abuse, domestic violence exposure, separations from their caregivers, and traumatic grief. I have experience in working with individuals who are struggling with depression , anxiety, panic disorder, and life transitions. During my work, I see through a "trauma lens", changing the belief of "what is wrong with you", to "what has happened to you". I am state rostered through the North Carolina Child Treatment Program (NCCTP) in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) . TF-CBT is the gold standard in treating child sexual abuse and other traumas. I also have experience in working with caregivers who are parenting children that have experienced trauma.
While my approach is cognitive- behavioral, I enjoy helping individuals get in touch with their personal resources and skills. I also pull from different theories, such as Attachment Therapy, Trauma Theory, and Psycho- Analytic Theory.
My aim as a therapist is to hold space for each individual's experiences, and to help them reach their full potential.
I am honored to work with you!

Alexandra Hayson has been an immense help to me. She has real-world experience and is adept at analyzing behavior through the "trauma lens"; helping me to understand and show myself compassion. She has an open and friendly personality, and is able to keep a good flow during our sessions. I feel that I can really depend on her. I definitely recommend Alexandra to anyone who is recovering from childhood trauma specifically, or anyone who struggles with anxiety.
She actually listens and cares. This has been the best therapy I've experienced.
Alexandra is very professional. She’s respectful of her clients concerns and offers therapy to reflect and address your concerns. She is helpful and gives resources that are appropriate to your needs. She has been and important asset to address my personal issues.
Alexandra is very engaging, kind, non - judgmental and a delight to work with. There is no set criteria which is great because it allows you the freedom to go about discussing things in the way that they are affecting you and lets you take more responsibility making you feel confident and secure. I would definitely recommend Alexandra to a friend.
She is fantastic, very caring, messages you back when she is free.
