About me

Hi! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri with over 10 years of experience providing therapy.

I take an integrative approach to therapy. That means that I will pull from a variety of theories and techniques about how people can change, experience relief from suffering, and improve their lives. I also have lived experience with many of the issues that others face, either in my own life or in the lives of my significant others, friends, and family. I am a real, authentic, flawed human being who knows what it is like to struggle and recover from life's difficulties.

Since starting my journey as a mental health professional I have provided counseling at community mental health clinics, emergency shelters, substance abuse treatment centers, the VA, a college counseling center, and in my own private practice.

I also have extensive experience as a professor. I have taught courses on clinical psychology, personality, human development, multicultural psychology, group counseling, diagnosis of mental disorders, human sexuality, theories of counseling, and several more. I have trained counselors in methods of counseling and provided supervision.

I believe that I can help you with any issue you face. If I don't know that best way to help you, I will research it and get advanced training and consultation. I already have advance training and experience helping individuals with the following diagnoses, neurodivergences, and life situations: Autism Spectrum, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, Phobias, PTSD, Dissociative Disorders, Insomnia, Borderline Personality Disorder (also called complex PTSD), personality disorders, issues related to sex and intimacy, issues related to gender, oppression, racism, substance use, stress, issues related to career and work, religious trauma, spirituality, LGBT+ issues, issues related to infidelity and non-monogamy (both ethical and non-ethical), body image, self-esteem, codependency, parenting, divorce, relationships, family conflict, loneliness, communication difficulties, and increasing satisfaction with life.

Whatever challenge you face, I will be here to help you along the way.

She is amazing! She listens and has been so detrimental in my changes of mentality and mental health.

Alexandra is a goddess. But I also have a heavy live hate relationship with therapy. And that’s normal. I hate it cause I am not ready to face my demons, but I also need to face my demons and Alex gives me courage and strength and time and patience. She doesn’t push me; she lets me experience the trauma, know the trauma and gives me time to express my trauma. Which is exponential and paramount. I’ve never met anyone who has given me space to exist.
