Alexann Masiko-Meyer

(M.Ed., LCMHC, (LPC), NCC)

About Me

I hear you. Hello, I am Alexann Masiko-Meyer, and I am an eclectic counselor that would be filled with gratitude to support you in living your best life. I am an LCMHC (former LPC) issued by the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors, NCC from NBCC and I have an M.Ed. in counseling. In November of 2020, I will acquire an LPCC from the state of California BBS. I have been in the helping profession (mental health/mental wellness) since 2005 and an associate counselor since 2015. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, family conflicts, coping with grief and loss, parenting issues, social behavior, and crisis counseling.
While I am experienced in many counseling techniques, my overall approach is to maintain an eclectic blend of techniques in order to support each individual. I focus on diverse and cultural needs as well as having a holistic, integrated, open minded and compassionate approach. Our first few sessions start out with a person-centered approach. It is important for us to establish a trusting, ethical, therapeutic relationship by form of congruence, unconditional positive regard, and empathy. Sometimes a person-centered approach leads the client to discover the answers for themselves. However, the information collected in the first few sessions may lead to a better suited theory. I feel that issues like depression or anxiety can be helped with cognitive behavioral therapy. CBT has also been great when working with adolescents who struggle with anxiety, depression, aggression and conduct disorders. I find dialectical behavior therapy techniques to be useful in a counseling setting as well. My counseling style and approach is eclectic to support the individual needs of each client.
I feel that everyone should have access to mental wellness support. Whether you are seeking self care, a healthier happier life, or just need a non judgmental ear to listen, I am here to support and empower you. I look forward to working with you!

Alexann has been an outstanding counselor, she has been helping me through one of the most difficult times in my life. She has listened and understood when I didn't think I could talk to anyone. She shows such compassion for my situation, while also acknowledging the feelings of everyone involved.
