Welcome to my page! Choosing a therapist can be an overwhelming task, so let me tell you a bit about who I am as a counselor so that you can make an informed decision whether or not to proceed.
My role as a therapist is to be a safe, warm and non-judgmental presence so that I can help you heal from past and present hurts, navigate life's ups and downs, and achieve whatever goals you would like to set for yourself. I firmly believe we all have it within ourselves to manage and heal from a wide variety of challenges; my job is to help you unlock that potential. Some of the challenges I have helped clients work through include trauma, abuse, neglect, addiction, depression, anxiety, grief and general overwhelming life transitions.
I take a trauma-focused approach to counseling, in that I am always asking, 'what may have happened to you to lead to this issue, and how can we work through that together?' rather than 'what is wrong with you that may have lead to this issue?' This approach allows me to focus on the underlying causes of heavy emotions so that they can be healed, and empower clients to identify new and healthy coping mechanisms and problem solving skills.
I completed my masters degree in professional counseling after a decade working in the veterinary field, helping pet owners care for their sick pets and navigate through their own grief. Since completing my masters degree, I have continued to study new therapy techniques and always try to tailor my approach to my client's specific needs. I have studied EMDR, mindfulness, narrative therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, dialectical behavior therapy and have completed intensive training in the healing of trauma and grief. I am comfortable integrating these techniques to best meet the needs of the individual client, always building off the person-centered core conditions of empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence. In addition to being licensed as a professional counselor, I have completed additional requirements to become a Nationally Certified Counselor and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.
I look forward to getting to know you, and undertaking this journey towards healing and change together!

Alexis Batts has helped me so much through the grieving process. She helped me think more positively about myself when I didn't know I had it in me. I would recommend her to everyone I know. She always gets back to me in a timely manner and is always professional.
I have received a lot of feedback from Ms. Batts. She has given me a few tools to use to help with anxiety that have helped so far. She is very responsive and I'm really hopeful that with continued support from her, I will start to move forward with my life.
Compassionate, committed to the holistic betterment of others. Highly recommended.
She is vey understanding and a great resource.
Alexine is a wonderful therapist! She is very respectful and extremely supportive. She is knowledgeable and I trust her 100%. She always responds quickly. She is very accommodating when it comes to the live sessions. I would recommend anyone having issues with ptsd, trauma or really anything to become her client! I can honestly say Alexine has saved my life.
She is a very gentle, caring individual, well suited to this work. She has an understanding of the individual that goes beyond training to an innate, intuitive knowing of what will help. It is comforting to talk to her, knowing that what she suggests always feels right, feels comfortable and helps the situation. She creates a very warm, safe environment for doing the work, which is absolutely wonderful! I would highly recommend her.
We have only just started our sessions, but it seems to be going fine.
Alexine is a kind, supportive listener and has been really helpful even though it's been just a few weeks. I plan to continue working with her on a variety of topics, and I'd definitely recommend her.
Even after the first couple of conversations, I knew this is where I needed to be. Ms. Batts found a way to help me feel like I could reach out for help and be vulnerable while being in full control of how to approach my therapy. I didn't even know that was possible! I am thankful I decided to pursue this avenue of therapy and actually excited about what I am going to accomplish. It's already had a positive effect on my day-to-day life.
She offers support and explains why. Timely responses are made by her- Nothing but good things to say about her.
Ms. Batts is amazing. In just a few short weeks, I already feel better and more confident. I am so glad I took this step. She is providing me with the tools I need to overcome my issues.
I think Alexine is the best! She has done more for me in my short time with her, than other therapists I saw for months. She is able to quickly understand my needs, as they arise, and provide the feedback, and support needed at that time. She has provided me with wonderful resources to help in my treatment.
I'm glad to have Alexine Bates out of the counselor I had in the past she was the most understanding.
