About Me

I am a licensed clinical marriage and family therapist licensed in Kansas with over 15 years of combined experience working as a psychocounselor, career coach, and disability management specialist. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, life changes, career challenges, women's issues, as well as disability-related workplace barriers. I also helped many people who have experienced prejudice, discrimination, and oppression.

My counseling style is client-centered yet directive, warm, and interactive. I also think it's important for you to experience sensitivity and compassion during a therapy session without stigmatizing labels. We will also make an action plan together that you can use daily to reach your therapy goals. As such, my therapy approach combines cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, as well as narrative and dialectical therapy methods to get the results you are looking for. We will work together to customize your treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

When you make a decision to create new patterns in your life, it often gets harder before it gets better to break those patterns. It takes courage to make steps towards intentional change and personal growth to lead a happier more fulfilled life. When you are ready to take that step, I am here to support you and give you the tools you need to experience the changes you are seeking in your life.

I look forward to working with you and building a plan together.

Aliah is amazing. She really listens to me and understands where I'm coming from. She has also challenged me in some really positive ways. I am so thankful that I have a counselor that is so caring and knowledgeable.

Aliah is one of the most kind and compassionate counselors that I’ve ever had. She always knows exactly what to say, and when to say it. She doesn’t pressure me for information and she makes it clear that things will go at my pace and she makes the whole “opening up” part of therapy very easy to do.

Aliah is incredible! She’s attentive, responsive, and supportive. She’s so present in our sessions and always responds to journal entries and messages. I cannot recommend her highly enough! She’s truly a gift.

Aliah is super helpful and proactive, dividing time between discussing issues and getting to the root of the problem and then finding tangible practical ways to reframe, accommodate and accept and/or move forward. I like to have goals to work towards and I really like how she remains encouraging and compassionate when I have setbacks.

Aliah replies back in a timely manner in which I truly appreciate. It doesn't sound rush, and it shows details that she is listening. She helps me find key points into what my goals are and helps me achieve them. I was able to absorb some information taught to me and I use it on a daily. I love her expertise and the way she handles situations. I have already recommended her to some of my families who are having their own struggles.

Aliah displays a deep empathy and compassion for my struggles, and she has been so engaged with me and my issues in each session thus far. I have worked with therapists in the past who would derail the conversation from what I was really interested in focusing on or wouldn’t really explain to me WHY we were doing certain things during a session, but Aliah is the complete opposite. She introduces me to any therapeutic exercises we do then thoroughly explains and checks in with me to be sure I’m comfortable. I would especially recommend Aliah to anyone who struggles to open up or has trauma they aren’t able to openly discuss right away—she’s great at sensing this and working within the range that’s comfortable for you.
