About Me

Welcome! I am glad you are here!

I am a licensed mental health counselor in New York with over 5 years of experience working as a chemical dependency therapist, a case manager for veterans with severe mental illness, and a therapist in private practice. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including trauma, addiction, life transitions, depression, anxiety, coping with severe mental illness, family dynamics, and couples counseling. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse.

My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, motivational interviewing and person-centered counseling. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.

Before we begin working together, please note that I have a short additional intake form that will need to be completed and returned and a photo of your ID/driver's license will need to be sent in order to confirm residency. I appreciate your understanding in ensuring I remain compliant with my license to practice so that I can continue helping others on this platform!

I look forward to working with you!

Alicia is an amazing counselor and always responds in a respectable time frame. She responds to everything I say and feel. She doesn't judge me for anything I say or how I feel about certain things. I would highly recommend Alicia as a therapist.

Alicia DeWolf has been helpful and reliable in my experience. I appreciate her prompt responses and also her efforts to further understand what issues I am dealing with. Within a short about of time, Alicia has already pointed out some interesting insights I haven't been aware of previously.

I haven’t been working with Alicia for too long now, but, since our first time talking - I was amazed at how understanding she was- I immediately felt a trust toward her and am so happy to have come across Alicia. She is prompt in her responses and doesn’t make you feel ‘crazy’ but more calm at how she is able to help you understand your thoughts more clearly. She has definitely helped me widen my views in such a short period of time.
