Yes, it is about you and no, it's not fair. In a perfect world, nothing bad ever happens. If it did, the burden certainly wouldn’t be on you to be the one to adjust. But, how is that working for you right now -to be the one with the fall-out and not making a change? Perhaps you’ve made great strides but could use some support with what is presently happening in your life. You owe it to yourself, and those who depend upon you, to make the most of your life. There really is only one you and I believe that you can make your life better.
It may not be easy. But, you’ve already exerted your control as you are reading here and considering your next step. Cognitive behavioral therapy can be a useful tool in guiding a new outlook on life. Therapy with me would involve safety, building your strengths and slowly using those skills in the real world. Right now, you may not feel that you can get there. That will be my role to support you in your journey.
A bit about me so you know:
• I’m a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). This means I graduated with a master’s degree in social work (MSW) from an accredited university, spent two years post-
graduate in practice with supervision, oversight and learning. I keep up to date with current practices through continuing education throughout the year.
• I maintain an LCSW in Louisiana and Texas
• My undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Science with a double major in social work and psychology and an additional focus in gerontology
• I’ve got 30 years’ experience working with people in medical settings, non-profit settings, with treatment teams, groups and directly with a single person in the room
allowing me the privileged position of serving as their guide until their strength was strong.
