About me

I am a licensed clinical social worker in the State of New Mexico with 8 years of experience working with individuals and families. My areas of specialty are depression, stress and anxiety, trauma, and parenting issues. I also work with clients who have experienced: low motivation, low self-esteem, low confidence, addictions, grief and loss, anger, and family or relationship issues.

My counseling style is client-centered utilizing evidenced-based interventions. I am a certified Multi-Systemic Therapist (MST), and I am trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I utilize a systems perspective to conceptualize a client's needs, creating a complete picture of how to address a client's presenting concerns. I incorporate a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach with shame-resilience principles to build and strengthen one's self-efficacy. I value the importance of a judgment free atmosphere and building a strong therapeutic alliance in order to help my clients reach their goals. I practice empathic listening and enjoy assisting others in deepening their own self-awareness. I will structure my sessions to meet your specific needs.

On a personal note, I am a former professional cyclist, triathlete, and ultra runner. I am a Crossfit Level 1 trainer, and I do Crossfit as well as Olympic weight lifting. I am a new mom to little Ella, and I am enjoying the adjustment to motherhood. After so many years of working with families in my social work practice, it is rewarding to become a parent myself.

I understand seeking help for personal struggles is difficult and recognize the courage it takes to reach out. Change is not always easy, but I am here to help you every step of the way. Are you ready to walk through life's challenges and feel empowered to live a more fulfilling life? If so, then contact me and let's get to work!

Alisha is an absolute pleasure to work with and I look forward to meeting every week. She can understand and relate with so much and will leave you feeling heard and supported. She is clear on her intentions and is honest with you when she needs to be. She is a joy to speak with as well and I always feel so comfortable in session. Her clients are lucky to have her!!

I've been working with Alisha for more than a year now and she has been of tremendous help in untangling some of the issues I've been dealing with. She is a great listener and with compassion and empathy, she has guided me in taking decisions for myself. I always look forward to our video sessions and a lot of times I feel like I can 'breathe' again after we finished talking :)

Great counsellor who always supports me in the best way possible. She also offers extra sessions when she notices that I need extra support.

Alisha is excellent. She has surpassed my expectations. I feel supported. Listened to. I am a social worker myself and her quality of therapy is some of the best I’ve encountered.
