Alisha O'Donovan

(MS, LMHC)

About Me

Hi! My name is Alisha O’Donovan. I have a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology and am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the State of New Mexico.

As a therapist, my approach to psychotherapy is grounded in a unified approach to the science of clinical psychology that assimilates and integrates key insights from the major approaches (e.g., CBT, humanistic, integrative) into a more coherent whole. My clinical focus is underpinned by the principles of evidence based practice, whilst emphasizing a collaborative therapeutic relationship as the core vehicle through which to support people to achieve meaningful positive change. I draw most frequently on methods from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Systemic approaches in supporting clients to effect change. The alliance between client and therapist as a key factor in the therapeutic process. I aim to facilitate a safe and confidential space for self-exploration and change. I like to start off by learning more about you, your strengths, your goals, and any barriers that may be in the way. I have experience in working with depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, stress, trauma, relationship/intimacy conflicts, self-esteem, and personal exploration.

It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you. If I seem like a good fit for you, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’d love to hear your story and share in your journey.

I look forward to working with you!

I've only been working with Alisha for a couple months, but she has helped me understand and start to work through many difficult personal struggles. She's very patient while I get my thoughts in order and listens very attentively. Alisha creates an environment that is caring and makes me feel comfortable to open up. I feel I have gained a new level of education and understanding about emotions, personal and interpersonal communication, boundaries, and awareness. I appreciate that Alisha provides me resources to go over during the week to continue making progress. I still have a long way to go, but I am encouraged and have a new found sense of hope and kindness towards myself and others. I'm very grateful for her guidance.

Alisha is a fantastic listener; she's held a compassionate space where I feel like I can be heard and understood. She does an excellent job of communicating between sessions and integrating useful exercises that have helped me become more aware of my behavioral patterns. I'd definitely recommend her!

Alisha made me feel relaxed from the get-go. She was warm and attentive and very informative. I spoke to Alisha at a time when I was at my lowest low and, straight away she gave me courage and a positive outlook on how we were going to manage my situation together. For the first time in a very long time, I didn’t feel alone anymore. Thank-you ever so much!
