About me
Hello I’m Alison!
I am a licensed professional counselor and a licensed mental health counselor (from the states of Alabama and Florida). I am also a Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC). I have 7 years of experience working as a therapist, and I have worked with children, adolescents, young adults, families, and couples. I also greatly enjoy working with people from various countries and cultures! At this time, I am unable to work with residents from California per California law.
I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, life changes, family difficulties, and low self-worth/confidence. I have also helped many people who have experienced trauma and/or emotional abuse.
My therapy style is warm and welcoming, yet direct. I try to maintain a balance of encouragement and empowerment with accountability and open communication.
I believe in treating everyone with respect and compassion regardless of age, race/ethnicity, gender, sexuality, etc.
My approach combines client-centered, cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral therapy, psychodynamic and motivational interviewing. I can also used arts-based methods if that is your preference. I will tailor our time together and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
It takes courage to seek therapy whether it’s your first or 100th time. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you!
I look forward to working with you!
~Alison
