Dr. J. Allen Nodine

About Me

Hello! I am Dr. Nodine and I am a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of California. I earned a Doctoral degree (Doctor of Psychology) in clinical psychology as well as a Master of Science degree in mental health counseling.

You can learn a bit more about me at: www.drnodine.com.

I have over 15 years of experience in the mental health field. I use a warm and compassionate style along with a genuine desire to help people. I truly enjoy seeing people improve their lives! I have worked with hundreds of patients on issues such as depression, anxiety, phase of life concerns, relationship issues, LGBTQ issues and family problems, to just name a few.

I have a variety of professional experience which has helped to shape my therapy style. As a clinical psychologist, I have extensive training and have worked with patients with a wide range of problems and symptom severity, including some of the most severely mentally ill patients in hospital settings to high functioning college students with minimal problems, simply working on improving themselves. I've worked on two college campuses as a professor and psychologist, as well as inpatient and outpatient treatment settings.

For therapy to be successful, it is important to have a strong therapeutic connection with your therapist. I am often described as relaxed, easygoing and non-judgmental. I try to create a comfortable place for discussion and communication. I highly recommend video sessions occur routinely, as seeing one another helps communication significantly. Messaging and chat should be used minimally and only for brief communications. This allows sessions on BetterHelp to have the most benefit to you!

If you and I work together I would want to learn about your needs and set goals together. I have seen change happen and would love the opportunity to be a part of positive changes and improvement in your life. Whether your problems are large or small, I am there to help guide you so we can both understand what you're experiencing and determine how change can occur. You don't have to know exactly what to say or where to start - I will help you figure it out. I look forward to meeting and working with you!

Please contact me if you do not see a day and time that works for you on my schedule.
