I am a licensed clinical social worker in Georgia with ten years of experience working with children, adults, and families. My primary focuses have been varied and include grief and loss, life stage changes, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and parenting frustrations. I also have significant experience with trauma and abuse.
My counseling style is flexible for your needs but it is always grounded in compassion and non-judgement. I typically gravitate towards solution-focused and person-centered approaches in the beginning and determine jointly with the client more specific approaches as the work continues. I believe that unconditional positive regard is possible for every relationship, even when the work focuses on correcting problematic behavior. My theoretical orientations include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT); dialectical behavioral influenced therapy (DBT) with a particular focus on mindfulness; psychodynamic; and solution-focused. Typically there is also a psychoeducational piece of my work that encourages the client to utilize different methods of adaptive coping strategies to increase their quality of life between sessions. If trauma is identified as a goal, I assess each client’s level of distress tolerance and emotional regulation prior to beginning in order to ensure that our work together will be safe and productive.
I enjoy working with a wide variety of clients and have experience with diversity in regards to gender, race, culture, religion, and sexual orientation. I find that people who feel that I am a good match for them have a desire to begin to strengthen their internal sense of self and strength and are eager to begin their journey to a higher level of self-actualization.
If you are looking for someone to provide additional support, empowerment, and guidance as you seek positive change from the status quo, I cannot wait to meet you and help you get started on your quest.
If you are finding that you could benefit from additional coping strategies when parenting during this unprecedented time of social distancing and lock down, please consider reading more at https://www.instagram.com/parentingduringapandemic/. Attentive and intuitive. Ms. Morrison is responsive and flexible. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone!
Alyssa is thoughtful and considerate of my feelings and takes the time to listen and understand. It has taken ten years to find a therapist that helps me to feel heard and offers useful insight. Alyssa has been amazing! I highly recommend Alyssa and Better Help.
Alyssa is a great, empathetic listener and gives always very meaningful advice. I feel safe and secure working with her through my struggles and past trauma and thus can really recommend her as a counselor.
I felt very comfortable with Alyssa in all of our sessions and she made me understand my feelings more about what I'm going through. She was very helpful to me and I'm sure she'll be as helpful to other people going through similar experiences.
She understands my concern but still tries to make suggestion on how to manage the issues. I am happy for that.
I personally have had a great experience with Alyssa. I cannot speak for everyone, just on the experience I have had, but mine has been a good one.
I'm so glad I've been matched with Alyssa. She understands where the root of a lot of issues are coming from and has helped to suggest strategies to cope better with these. She really listens and is very good at helping me to identify underlying causes and make connections between problems that I didn't realize were related, better helping me to deal with them.
I have been working with Alyssa for a while now and she's an impressive counselor. Her responses are always well thought-out and she has the ability to understand our issues on hand, and go straight to work on them. She's caring, which makes her incredibly easy to work with and we've managed to get through a lot to date. She's a great person!
Alyssa is very attentive and empathic to my issues and helpful and supportive in her suggestions. She doesn't avoid difficult questions and presents them in a caring and optimistic manner.
Alyssa is extremely empathetic, knowledgeable, and helpful. She really takes time to understand my concerns and uses a variety of approaches to help me.
Alyssa is very easy to talk to and a great listener!
Alyssa is the rare type of individual that everyone needs in their lives. Most counselors don't have it. Alyssa has it. And I'm grateful I was placed with her before giving up.
Alyssa is the best. Honestly she pretty much saved my life.
Alyssa has been super helpful to me. She has been very patient and compassionate with me. She worked with my personality type to give insightful suggestions to work on every week- which was a huge help! This made me feel more confident and comfortable in my own skin:)
I found her feedback to be very sincere, direct and honest; she doesn't run around the bush or sugarcoats anything, which was awesome and exactly what I needed.
Cherry on top- She has been very flexible to match with our crazy time difference (U.S. - Australia), even to work with our phones sessions as well as her message responses. :)
Alyssa is great. Very approachable, open-minded and supportive. Thanks!
Alyssa is very helpful to me dealing with my intimacy issues. She is very kind and helpful!
Alyssa has been hugely insightful and supportive throughout our time together. I always look forward to hearing from her.
Alyssa has been extremely kind and patient with me, and I am very grateful for the help and support that she has provided me with. I highly recommend working with her.
I found Alyssa very clear and good at narrowing down on the issues.
Alyssa is very kind and smart. She does not sugar coat things which is a huge deal for me. However, she is respectful and she facilitates introspection. She is great at what she does. Thankful to have been paired with her!
She's been amazing! Very supportive.
Alyssa is insightful, respecting, caring, and fully engaged in the therapy process. Though I've been talking with her for only a short time, she's already helped and encouraged me to improve my life. She was a great fit for me, and she's been really thoughtful and willing to let me take things at my own speed and guide my own work. I'm so glad I found BetterHelp and was instantly matched with a wonderful counselor.
