Hello. I am a licensed mental health counselor. I have been in the field for 9 years. I have worked in various settings including: out-patient, in-patient chemical dependency and in-patient mental health, day treatment programs and the emergency department. I have worked with a wide variety of individuals struggling with trauma, chemical dependency, mood and anxiety disorders, autism, ADHD, schizophrenia, relationship and family issues, gender identity, career and education, and others.
My counseling style is warm and empathetic. I enjoy a collaborative relationship between counselor and client. You are, after all, your own best resource. I am merely here to help you tap into some skills that will help you along in your journey. I use a multi-mode approach to counseling and borrow from the following: cognitive behavior therapy, Rational Living Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Feminist theory, mindfulness, and music. I really enjoy teaching coping skills such as breathing techniques and progressive muscle relaxation. I like to practice them along with you so that you can truly understand them and utilize the skills on your own.
Asking for help can feel overwhelming. Validate yourself for taking this important first step to changing your life. I look forward to working with you!

Amanda is compassionate, kind, and knowledgeable. She listens attentively and offers helpful insights. I feel very comfortable sharing any thoughts or feelings with her without fear of judgement. Amanda is a genuine and kind hearted person. This was my first time speaking to any kind of therapist and although I was nervous, Amanda really took the time to listen to me and help me with my depression/anxiety. Her breathing exercises and other helpful tip sheets have helped me so much in such a short period of time and I am so grateful to have been matched to such a thoughtful and caring counselor. She is the best!
