About me

Welcome! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Connecticut with 10 years of experience in varied settings including inpatient, outpatient, and private practice. I earned my Master's degree from Southern CT State University and since 2011, I have worked with young adults, families, and individuals. I sincerely love building relationships with my clients and empowering them to become the very best version of themselves. I look forward to sharing with you my expertise in self acceptance, self esteem, self awareness, and relationships ranging from friendships to lifelong partners or spouses. I have treated a spectrum of diagnoses including anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress disorders, addictions, and personality disorders. I look forward to collaborating with you to identify areas you would like to work on, and achieve the goals we set forth. I am here to empower you to make the best decisions for yourself to achieve optimal mental health and genuinely enjoy life! I will not give advice or tell you what to do, but I will help you understand yourself better and help you problem solve.

I will first and foremost build a trusting relationship from which you will feel very comfortable confiding in me. I use a non judgmental and empathetic approach so that your feelings are validated. I will challenge you to think of things differently and try new ways to approach situations and problem solve. Our therapy appointment is your safe haven where you can discuss what you wish without a filter. We will spend time creating treatment goals and working toward goal achievement in our sessions. Between sessions I may give you "homework" assignments and/or readings. My treatment approach is a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Treatment, and Psychoanalytic Therapy. My therapeutic goal is to give my clients the the ability to manage life's ups and downs in a healthy way.

I’ve been speaking with Amanda since the beginning of the month and I feel that she is genuine and compassionate. She is very easy to speak to and you can tell that she cares. I recommend anyone who is having challenges to reach out to her.

Amanda is attentive, listens well, and knows my concerns. She sees improvements in me but also understands I have setbacks and struggles at time to break through. She doesn't lose patience, she helps me understand what I'm feeling at a given time and tries to find the why. We've been exploring different reasons why I might be feeling the way I do and hope to move forward. Amanda is a great counselor and I look forward to our next sessions to continue this work.

So I have one session on the books with Amanda today. I already feel that she is trustworthy and confident in her skills as a therapist. Without really even knowing too much about me, I was explaining some issues I am having in my current life situation and she seems to just know what direct and simple questions to ask me to get me thinking in the right direction. I see this being a very good therapeutic relationship moving forward.
