About Me
You’ve just taken the first step to feeling better and reaching your goals. Therapy can be a little intimidating to start so let me tell you a little bit about myself and how I might be able to help you. First of all, I’ve been a counselor for nearly twenty years and am licensed in Illinois and Missouri. I got my master's degree in counseling from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and have since then worked with clients from all different backgrounds ages 1 through adulthood. I've worked in several settings including schools, residential programs, Early Intervention in home services and private practice. I am very down to Earth and open-minded so I hope that as we get to know each other, there’s nothing you won’t feel comfortable discussing with me. Just be yourself!
Some people want to know what my “style” is. First of all, I like to tell people that while I may be the “expert” on therapy tools, you are the expert on you. So, I won’t ever tell you what to do. I like to think of myself as a guide. Together we can explore the issues you’re dealing with, organize them so they start to make sense, and plan out how best to solve them. Therapy is definitely a team sport and will take effort from both of us.
The tools I use come from many different approaches to therapy because there’s not a one size fits all approach. We can discuss what best suits your issues as well as what you’ll be most comfortable with. The approaches I draw most heavily from are solution-focused, mindfulness and cognitive-behavioral. This means I try to focus more on the present and future goals and often help people identify and change thoughts and behaviors getting in their way.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Amanda Grippi. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Amanda has helped me a lot since we first started meeting. After several months I feel that I am in a better space mentally and I have the tools I need to remain there. She is a wonderful human who is so kind and understanding and I'm glad to see how I've grown since meeting her.
Best therapist I have ever had. She’s so empathetic and understanding. Always makes sure I am okay before sessions end.
Since day one she has helped me! I love that the first thing she asked was what were three goals of mine. She’s helped me love and appreciate myself more. She also listens and asks questions that I would never ask myself.
