About me

I am a Licensed Master Social Worker who resides in the Metro-Detroit area and have been practicing in the mental health field for over 12 years, including working in teletherapy for over 5 years. I have extensive experience working with children and adolescents, along with their parents and families, in addition to working with adults and seniors. I have helped clients work through difficult challenges, such as grief and loss, job changes, trauma and other significant life changes as well as helping people learn to manage mental illnesses such as anxiety, depression, ADHD and PTSD. In addition, I have had the opportunities to work with individuals living with an Intellectual or Developmental Disability, and have helped their families and caregivers better understand ways to support and care for them.

As a teenager I had an interaction with someone in the helping profession, and she had inspired me to not only pursue a similar career path, but she modeled for me an approach that I have continued to maintain throughout my years of practice. I believe that the therapeutic process truly is a collaborative approach where the client is definitely the expert on him/herself. I see my role as being one of an assistant- to help provide some guidance and direction when needed, but ultimately to help the client identify the goals for him/herself and then work with them to recognize the skills they already possess or help them develop new skills if needed.

My approach is a client-centered, solution-focused approach that draws on interventions such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused CBT, and motivational interviewing to name a few. I believe in building a solid rapport with clients first, as trust and good communication is needed in any working relationship. The ongoing counseling style that I would use would be tailored to meet your specific needs, as no two clients are the same.

I believe that one of the hardest steps in therapy is the first one- asking for help. You are already taking that step by being here looking for someone who is a good fit for you. I appreciate your time, and am here to help when you feel ready!

Amanda has been amazing. I left Betterhelp roughly 2 years ago for some personal reasons, but I was so happy that I was able to come back and start working with her once again. She really has made a huge difference in my mental health, and has offered so many suggestions that have helped me towards recovering from my anxiety disorder. I am very happy that I came back.

Amanda is a great therapist. Although my experience with therapy is a little over a year old, I can tell how Amanda really listens and tries to help you find mechanisms for you to cope with your challenges. She champions you for your accomplishments and always checks in on a timely manner.

I have already recommended Amanda to my colleagues.

Amanda is amazing and caring, I also meant to answer that she does respond in a timely manner, I hit the wrong thing and it won't let you go back to edit. She is patient and willing to work with your current mental health problems even if that's not what you originally had going on when you signed up. I don't feel overly pressured with her but I do feel cared about. I never feel abandoned or like she doesn't care.. I don't feel judged which is so important. The only critique I have is I wish she had more weekday daytime availability for video therapy, HOWEVER, that is the fault of the current pandemic, and the situation everyone is struggling with with sharing home offices, not a fault of her own. Thank you, Amanda, for being someone I can trust, and for working with me to make me the best I can be

Amanda has been fantastic. She's a wonderful listener, knows when to focus on specific issues, and often recalls information from our previous conversations. Amanda is very encouraging and open to hearing anything and everything I have to share. I have never felt judged, which was one of my biggest apprehensions when signing up for therapy and Amanda has been nothing but supportive.
