About me

I am a licensed professional counselor-supervisor and have over 15 years experience as a psychotherapist. I have worked primarily in a medical environment and more recently, in an academic setting. One of my favorite quotes is by Viktor Frankl and says "between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is the power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and freedom." I believe counseling creates the space to see where our power is and isn't. Most of us live the bulk of our lives on autopilot until that isn't working anymore. It does take slowing down, pausing, and reflecting to increase awareness to patterns that may not be helping us meet our needs and/or desires. I will be with you in that pause, providing support and guidance.

I believe strongly in the mind-body connection and therefore use both as access points to help with symptoms. In addition to counseling training, I have also completed a 200 hour yoga teacher training, mindful self-compassion training, and mindfulness training. I believe incorporating movement and/or breath work can be helpful in calming the mind and the body. I have also done intensive study in interpersonal neurobiology, which looks at how our early attachments impacts our relationships. I incorporate psychoeducation about this when it may be helpful in the counseling process.

I know it takes courage to seek out help. I look forward to being apart of your journey.
