Amanda Manning

(LPC, LMHC, NCC)

About Me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Washington. I have provided individual and group counseling to adults for the last 10 years. I graduated from Marymount University with degrees in Forensic Psychology and Counseling. I have worked with adults experiencing mental illness such as depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, borderline personality disorder and substance abuse issues in the Washington, DC and Arlington, VA since 2007. Through my work I have seen amazing, positive changes occur in people who had lost hope. Change is good, and scary, and possible!

I use a solutions-focused and strengths-based approach in my work with clients. I believe that the possibility to create the change you want to see is already within you, but you may need some help to find the internal motivation and strength to get where you want to go. I use a number of clinical tools such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing (MI) to support my work, but I am most interested in meeting you where you are, identifying your goals, and working on some action steps that can help you reach those goals.
