About me

Greetings to all,

My name is Amber Eason and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Virginia. The purpose of my own commitment to you, here on the BetterHelp platform, is to assist and guide you through specific, and sometimes generalized areas of dysfunction, that impairs our daily lives. We as clinicians also go through the same humanistic experiences and through my education and own experiences, I will do my best provide an extensive amount of support to you and your family.
I graduated from the University of West Florida with a Bachelor's in Social Work in 2010 and received my Master's in Social Work from the University of New England in 2013, with a concentration in Individuals, Groups, and Families. My first internship consisted of discharge planning in Pensacola, Florida, in different departments within the hospital, where I was able to converse with diverse populations and understand the affiliation as a whole and how it functions. Secondly, I completed an internship as an undergraduate ,as a victim's advocate at Lakeview Crisis Center. Services rendered included psychoeducation related to sexual assault, questions pertaining to rape, or habitual callers that called for merely conversation, as most suffered from depression and anxiety. As I entered the Master's programs at the UNE, there I was fortunate to partner with Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care in San Diego, California, where areas include end of life issues such as grief, denial, familial conflict, cultural education and weekly visits to the client were major aspects for services in that agency.
Employment experiences range from servicing families in Child Protective Services, geriatric services, psychiatric centers, and currently work with children and veterans as a Military Life Counselor within two elementary schools.
Treatment modalities vary, depending upon the client and the counselor-client relationship that builds upon trust and open, honest communication and difficult conversations of reality. Psychodynamic approaches tend to be more inmate in nature and gain a full perspective, while Solution-Focused Therapy may be time limited. Family systems are very important and most always make up the person we become and tends to be part of therapy to gain more knowledge about the client as a whole. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is another relevant, proven modality with extraordinary scholarly work that provides successful outcomes.
My hope is for clients seeking assistance, have already proved to have major strengths, by processing through their journey and issues for an overall healthier life physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. To experience a fulfilled life is only attainable when you, the client, are ready and willing to learn and take part in something foreign, at times uncomfortable and inconvenient, but always possible.

Amber is very active and great at helping me analyze weak spots and how to work on them. She’s positive and never harsh. She gives great explanations and ways to work through problems.

I am extremely thankful to have been given Amber Eason as my counselor. Right from the get go she was encouraging, positive, kind, warm, friendly, and focused. In the few short weeks of our sessions she has already given me tools I've used in everyday life and my daily interactions. She's also helped me focus and think about things I'd never thought about. Im extremely thankful to her AND the BetterHelp site for making such a positive impact in my everyday life!
