About Me

Hi! My Name is Amy Abbasov. I am an LPC with a national license issued by the state of Texas and I have an M.Ed. in counseling. I have 10 years of counseling experience. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, family conflicts, coping with grief and loss, parenting issues, social behavior, and crisis counseling.

I am experienced in many counseling techniques and find myself to have an open minded compassionate approach. My counseling style and approach is Holistic/Integrative. The first few sessions start out with a person-centered therapy approach. It is important to establish a trusting, ethical, therapeutic relationship by form of congruence, unconditional positive regard, and empathy in the beginning. Sometimes a person-centered approach leads the client to discover the answers for themselves. However, the information collected in the first few sessions may lead to a better suited theory. I feel that issues like depression or anxiety can be helped with Solution Focused therapy. I find dialectical behavior therapy techniques to be useful in a counseling setting as well. My counseling style and approach really depends on the client and what best fits the situation. Person-centered therapy, Solution Focused therapy, and DBT have been my main approach and style.

Whether you are seeking change for a healthier happier life, or just need a non judgmental ear to listen, I am here to support and empower you. I look forward to working with you!

She’s awesome always there to listen

I wouldn’t be who or where I am today without Amy. She has steadfastly supported me during many personal challenges and the not-as-difficult moments in between. Therapy/counseling can be so daunting to begin and continue pursuing, but my weekly sessions with Amy made the investment absolutely worth it. I have full faith and trust that she wants the very best for me, and she has always demonstrated that through her time, care, and attention. She has helped me work through and more fully understand my emotions, thoughts, behaviors, etc. - and those of family, friends, coworkers, and other people I interact with on a daily basis. Her approach has equipped me with strategies to deal with life’s routine and unexpected stressors. With her insights, I have been able to experience self-growth and deepened purpose. This self-work has then provided me more capacity and preparation for pursuing my interests in social change and helping others. If you’re wondering whether you should start therapy/counseling or not, or whether you should talk to Amy or not - this is your sign to just go for it!!! You will come out on the other side so much stronger than you could’ve imagined.

Amy is amazing, she listens and really helps me understand myself and see things in a perspective that is helpful and neutral . I appreciate that a lot !

Amy is amazing. I started my journey with her while I was struggling with infertility and she was truly the advocate I needed. She helped me through both failures and successes, knowing when to give advice and when just to be a sounding board. I felt comfortable opening up to her from day one, something I have struggled to do with therapists in the past. She does her best to always be available and has even gone out of her way to reach out on her own when she knew I was having a tough day. I can't recommend her enough.

Amy has listened to me complain, guided me through struggles and has overall helped me understand situations and myself better. I am grateful to be able to talk to her and have her help through my situations, both emotional and mental. Thank you Amy

Amy has been such a blessing in my life! I feel so comfortable talking to her and I look forward to our sessions. She is very professional and knowledgeable, but at the same time she is so easy to talk to it feels more like I am talking to a friend than a therapist. I have not had positive experiences with counseling in the past and was very apprehensive to try it again. I am very thankful I did. She has helped me improve my life in many ways. I am a much happier person than I was when I signed up for BetterHelp and I cannot thank her enough!

Amy has been everything I was hoping therapy would be and more. I was terrified to start therapy but Amy's easygoing attitude has helped me open up and push through hard feelings. She helps me stay confident, focused, and true to myself. I am forever changed because of the help I am receiving from Amy. I highly recommend her if you are seeking more understanding of your feelings and difficult events you have been through, big or small. Amy's guidance has been a true blessing in my life.

She is a Godsend. I don’t make this statement lightly. She is attentive, encouraging, non-judgmental and one of the easiest counselors that I have ever had the privilege of working with. I would 100% recommend Amy Abbasov.

This was my first time doing any type of therapy or counseling. I was a nervous wreck and super anxious about the first time I talked to her. Amy was so warm-hearted, open and fun to talk to as well! She made me feel super comfortable, kind of like talking to an old friend. She does a perfect job of balancing listening to me, being supportive and offering me advice and tips. She's awesome and I can't wait to continue my journey with her!!
