Amy Beene, LPC
About me
I am a counselor licensed in the state of Oregon and Arkansas with over 9 years experience. I work with individuals and families that struggle with a wide array of issues including depression, anxiety, relationship conflicts, LGBTQ struggles, parenting, anger management, and life dissatisfaction. I also have worked closely with individuals undergoing trauma, grief, and emotional abuse.
My therapeutic style is one of acceptance and security. Expect me to be laid back, compassionate, and very open. I may use humor if it is helpful. I have no judgement and fully believe that everyone's story makes sense in its given context. Given your same struggles, hopes, dreams, and history any person may find themselves with difficulty, so there is no judgement in understanding your circumstances . I believe no problem is too big or too small. I use only evidence based therapy and will work with you to develop an individualized plan to help you reach your goals and find life and relationships more fulfilling. Currently, I draw from the therapeutic models of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. ACT is a type of therapy that teaches acceptance of mistakes and committing to the life you want to live while encouraging finding peace in the moments of joy as well as the moments of pain. I also believe strongly in healthy living for your body as well as your mind. Exercise has been proven to reduce stress, depression, anxiety, and helps find clarity. If this is something that interests you, please bring it up to me and we can discuss how to use it to help you where you are at.
Regardless of our efforts, some situations become unbearable under the stress of everyday life. No one is immune or fortunate enough to avoid anger, sadness, sickness, anger, and worry. My intent is to create an accepting environment for you to feel safe, to seek fulfillment, and find joy in all the madness life brings.
On the weekends you can find me with my family out in nature, exploring, or having some adventure. I tried to capture the wonder in life everywhere I go.

When I signed up with Better Help, I committed to do weekly sessions with a counselor for a minimum of one year and had very specific issues I committed to working on. I was prepared to cycle through a few counselors to finds someone who was willing to commit to the journey with me, would be patient but also hold me accountable, and I felt comfortable with and trusted. It felt like I hit the lottery when I was paired with Amy right out of the gate. She was everything I was looking for and more. It’s been 8+ months and I’ve made so much progress. Amy is amazing. She is kind, understanding, intelligent, compassionate, and practical. I couldn’t recommend her more! ❤️

Amy has been an incredible sounding board for me. Often this space is an outlet, she recognizes that and does a great job of getting back to me and realigning my anxieties and giving me a more realistic perspective. I am here to change my perspective. It isn't always about the bad, I'm learning to share the good too. I have experienced tremendous personal growth through this platform. Amy does a wonderful job of being empathetic and asking questions to help me recenter my thoughts in a more productive way.

Amy has been a beacon in a storm for me. Her compassion and knowledge are well-balanced and she has offered up some really great ideas for how to handle difficult situations. She is very supportive and has gotten me through a very difficult time of grieving and loss. It was a complex situation that involved losing close family members as well as losing a person I loved not physically but mentally because of a traumatic brain injury. She helps me stay focused on me and she helps me find ways to deal with the problems I have with friends, family, and my significant other. It's my experience that she is wise beyond her years. If you are looking for someone who is smart and a good listener and we'll go out on the limb with ideas to help you improve your life, then give me a try.
