Dr. Amy Bingham, LCMHC
About me
Hello!
My name is Amy and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in Utah, with four years of experience in counseling. Prior to my counseling career change, I worked in education as a professor of mathematics education, helping elementary teachers improve their mathematics teaching skills. I will always love and value the education field, and I love my counseling career even more! I have worked with clients from all ages, backgrounds, and areas of concern- substance abuse and addiction, trauma/abuse, depression, anxiety, LGBTQ issues, relationship concerns, career concerns, family relationship issues, and more.
My counseling style is very client-centered; my priority is to meet clients where they are and use a collaborative approach to treatment planning, goal setting, and choosing counseling modalities that work best for the client. My most often used modalities include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); Motivational Interviewing (MI); Solution-Focused Therapy; and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR); among others. I focus on identifying clients' strengths while also identifying the areas of their lives they are hoping to improve, and then collaborate with clients to utilize the treatment modality that will best intertwine those strengths with their goals.
It takes great courage and humility to reach out to a counselor for help, and I am continually honored to work with clients to move toward their "best lives." I would be honored to working with YOU!

Dr. Bingham has an extremely calming effect. She is very down to earth and I believe this helps me to open up, which is something I can find challenging.
Her expertise is obvious in the way she is able to recognise and connect my emotions and thoughts.
Her support makes me feel safe as I can talk through my worries and she helps to alleviate the anxiety.

Dr Bingham has been incredibly supportive, insightful and helpful and I have already noticed some real benefits from our sessions. It has been easy to establish a therapeutic relationship despite being online and I would highly recommend Dr Bingham to anyone else.
