About me

I am thankful for you to consider allowing me to come alongside of you as you seek change and wholeness. It takes insight to identify a problem or issue in your life and a lot of courage to admit and reach out for help. I commend your bravery!

My name is Amy. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor located in El Dorado, Arkansas with almost 6 years of experience helping empower men, women, and children to cope with and overcome problems in life. Having worked three years in community mental health, I have acquired valuable experience with serious mental illness/serious emotional disturbance, crisis intervention, as well as helping many clients through times of adjustment and struggles with managing their emotions. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is my primary treatment approach, however I have also found other modalities helpful, such as: Person-Centered Approach and Positive Psychology.

I have completed the introductory training for Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) through Arkansas Building Effective Services for Trauma (ARBEST), which is treatment for children ages 3-17 years who have experienced trauma. I have also completed training in Choice Processing and Resolution to help women with difficult emotions they may experience after a voluntary pregnancy termination.

I have a Master of Science degree in Mental Health and Clinical Counseling from Southern Arkansas University School of Graduate Studies and have been licensed through the state of Arkansas since August 2016. I know that God called me to this profession, and I find helping others to reach their goals to be very fulfilling.

I am married to Ernie and we enjoy our cat, Richard Parker, and our dog, Buddy. Our two sons are married and we enjoy our seven grandchildren. This past year our youngest son and his wife became foster parents to an infant boy who is now thriving and truly is part of our family.

After two sessions, I have been very impressed with Amy. She is insightful, a very attentive and thoughtful listener, and helps me identify where I need more perspective in ways that can fit in my life. I’m so grateful to have found her!
