Amy Halter, LICSW, LCSW
About me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) currently based in New York, NY. I am also licensed in Washington State and have years of experience living and working in Seattle, WA. I have served children, teenagers, and adults experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns, particularly trauma and abuse, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, and bipolar disorder.
I am trained in many evidence-based approaches including DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy) and PE (Prolonged Exposure Therapy), and I'm a big fan of using these approaches while also incorporating a humanistic and supportive therapeutic alliance. I believe that everyone can benefit from therapy, but also that everyone can learn the tools to become their own therapist, and that this is ultimately goal. I tend to examine problems in a socratic style, uncovering the negative and unhelpful beliefs that often keep us stuck in our symptoms. I also like to incorporate humor if possible to infuse sessions with a lighthearted sentiment, as I believe laughter is as great of a release as crying.
I look forward to working with you!
