About me

Hi my name is Amy, and I first want to acknowledge how difficult and scary it feels to begin the process of therapy, either for the first time or starting with a new therapist. I take very seriously the enormous strength that takes and I work very hard to ensure that you feel safe and heard as we begin the therapeutic relationship. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with 13 years of experience providing counseling in both inpatient and outpatient centers. I received my Master’s degree in counseling in 2008, from Webster University. I had the privilege of working in an inpatient eating disorder facility for five years and have continued that work in outpatient settings.
I have a passion for connecting with teenagers and building a safe place with an adult where they can voice their feelings and experiences without fear of judgement. I also especially enjoy working with young adult women as they navigate their way through the process of beginning adulthood. I have experience with a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and general women’s issue. I am especially passionate about working with CPTSD and PTSD. I have received a lot of training and supervision in working with trauma as it is a highly specialized field. Trauma survivors need validation, belief, compassion and acceptance first and foremost before a trusting relationship can be established. I have a lot of experience working with women exiting a toxic relationship, having endured narcissistic abuse and/or infidelity (betrayal trauma) which is highly misunderstood by the majority of society. My approach is warm, compassionate and highly empathetic as I work to establish a safe environment for healing to take place.

From my very first session with Amy, it was undeniable she was not only truly invested in working with you on your journey, but also versed and educated on her expertise. She is an amazing listener and an intelligent, dedicated counselor with a spirit of true empathy and understanding. She is also very honest, direct and straightforward with her guidance, which is much appreciated. Working with her as truly been life-saving and I'm blessed to have her as my counselor. I highly recommend her.

In the middle of Covid, I had become very anxious and depressed so my daughter suggested that I start therapy and antidepressants. I was paired with Amy and she has really helped me a lot! She has helped me delve into the childhood trauma that I had to help me see why I had problems and why I act the way that I do. I’m a much happier person now and am much more confident in myself. I’ve always felt like she cares!

From the first minute we spoke, Amy listened and empowered me to consider what I wanted to get from counseling. She is very easy to talk to, not judgmental, and shares ideas in a casual way that it feels like a conversation more than strict advice. Amy has been a big help to me in a short time and has challenged me to find ways to be a better dad...which is translating into a better husband, son and sibling. I would recommend Amy to anyone who expects thoughtful, honest feedback and suggestions.

I have seen many of Therapist over the last 5+ years and only a few were what I needed in that season of life but the last 2 years is be a real struggle to find someone that would really help me hone in and really work through some tough stuff and I feel like I really found that in Amy. She was been incredibly helpful. Love the flexibility of over the phone and still feels like she knows me and can be very relatable. I would refer her to anyone!!! She is absolutely my favorite!!!
