About me

Welcome!

I am a fully Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Michigan. I earned a Master of Arts degree in School and Community Counseling and also received a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Counseling . I have been a therapist in the mental health field for over 15 years. My experiences include working as a clinical therapist and as a school counselor. I work with individuals, couples, families, and groups and I also have extensive knowledge in working with the child, adolescent, and teen populations.

My understanding of counseling comes from many different theoretical orientations. I believe that the client or clients have the solutions to their dilemmas within one’s self. We have the freedom to choose what directions our life takes and the responsibility to take control of that freedom. Therefore, the counselor does not have the “answers” to the client’s “problem” but is a facilitator of the process that helps the client take responsibility and action and come to a resolution.

I place a heavy emphasis on providing a safe, positive, and non-judgmental space where an individual may feel comfortable sharing what they are thinking and feeling. The relationship between the counselor and therapist is of utmost importance. My approach to therapy is one that is trauma-informed and culturally responsive. I have had substantial training in developmental trauma and trauma-informed care. This allows me to understand how adverse childhood experiences may be affecting a client's life today.

I partner with my clients in setting mutually agreed upon goals and offer many tools to help ease their current discomfort. Asking for help takes courage, and I work to build on the courage and strengths of my clients to empower them towards change.

Dr Macey is the greatest therapist I have ever talked to. She has helped me more than I could have ever had imagine! Not sure what I would do without her!

I really appreciate this platform for counseling. I’ve never done it before and am too busy to run around town finding a councilor. Dr Macy was an easy fit. She understood my problem and asked appropriate questions without pushing too much and allowed me to express myself. She was able to explain why I was having these thoughts and even explained the biological reason it happens sometimes. I really appreciate her help and feel way more confident that I have the tools to cope. I’m so glad I reached out.

She really listens when I talk or ask questions. She gives me a variety of ways to improve on myself and the ways I think and we talk about what works and what doesn't. I feel very comfortable with her when this whole experience made me very nervous to begin with.

Sweet lady who knows what she's talking about! Very knowledgeable and has great advice and nonjudgmental. Great smile.

I'm not a fan of writing reviews but I'd say Dr Macey is a good reason to do so. She's been a great guide through what has turned out to be a difficult time in life. I'd highly recommend her to someone looking to make sense of a complicated life picture.

I'm someone who is easy to give up on, and I usually understand at the end of my episodes why they drift away. But Dr.Macey hasn't given up. She is so much more responsive then me, and I needed it more then she knows. 100/10 already and we haven't even started.
