I am a clinical social worker licensed in the state of Florida. I have counseling experience in a wide range of areas including depression, anxiety, grief/loss, domestic violence, relationship issues and severe/persistent mental illness. I have worked with many populations but in my earlier years as an intern, I embraced the schizophrenic community and learned everything I could about psychotic related disorders. I studied psychology and studio art at UNC- Wilmington. I loved it so much there that I took summer classes to avoid returning home at the end of spring semesters. I earned a masters at NC State University where I studied social work with a concentration in mental health. Like a seagull during winter, I migrated south to Florida looking for sunshine and success. It was here that I fullfilled my clinical licensure requirements. I love online therapy because it allows me to reach a wider range of clientele than I could before. I want everyone who needs it to get the support they deserve.
My counseling style is mostly cognitive behavioral with emphasis on visual thought mapping. I have found that when people see their actual thought process displayed in front of them, it allows for greater objectivity and perspective since it is no longer running on repeat inside the mind. Instead it lands somewhere safe which frees the mind up for other things, giving it more capacity to reason. This can be done online in various ways depending on what works for the client. I am very person-centered in my approach, so to me there is no "one size fits all" when it comes to counseling. However, I have pulled together my favorite techniques from evidence based practices which include mindfulness, trauma-based grounding exercises, the solution-focused approach, rational emotive therapy as well as many other tools I will utilize in a custom treatment plan specific to your goals and personality.
I empower my clients by revealing "tools of the trade" for distress tolerance and emotion regulation. Clients of mine are able to practice these techniques beyond the confines of my therapeutic care. This creates opportunity to become one's own therapist. I believe personal growth is something that can always be further developed. I am simply a facilitator in this process whereby I see you as an expert on yourself. I understand that no one actually embraces change until they are ready to do so. I think of myself as a guide nudging you gently in the direction of health, happiness and self-confidence.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Amy. She was kind and attentive, and made me feel comfortable sharing. For the months that I was in counseling, I was negotiating some difficult relationship challenges, and Amy helped me through these patiently and without judgement. She equipped me with some very practical tools for coping with stress and anxiety, which I still use even after discontinuing counseling.
Five stars.

Amy is the best counsellor ever. She always listens and gives amazing advice and is incredibly generous with spending extra time talking.
I started using BetterHelp and was really sceptical of how helpful it would be. Now I wish I’d started sooner!

Amy is a great counselor! When I first connected with her, I felt like my mindset was fragmented and filled with shame and very anxious about potential judgment from others. She's a fantastic listener, a secure attachment base and she supported me in helping me find balance and integrate all aspects of myself (even the things I'm not so proud of) and work through things. I really have valued her support as I sorted out a lot of areas of my life to come together feeling centered, calm, and hopeful for the future. Give her a try!

Amy is a professional yet relatable counsellor who's relaxed and accepting nature makes it easy for me to be unapologetically authentic and bravely transparent about what's on my mind and what I would like to overcome.
She's a great listener and is superb evoking a level of self reflection which is both deep and meaningful but that also allows room for you to take responsibility for how to proactively move forward.
I'm grateful for her science and faith based approach which helps me to align my new thought patterns with my core values.
I would recomend Amy to anyone who needed a great counsellor.

Amy has to be the best one I’ve had so far. Amy has been so supportive and not a day goes by where Amy does not check up on me. She has made me feel so much better in myself. I’ve had days where I've hated myself and she makes me love myself more. I’ve never felt more comfortable talking to someone. She deserves everything good that comes her way because she is the reason why I’m starting to feel much better in myself.

I've had many in-person counselors in the past. However, Amy is one of the best I've had. It's only been two weeks. However, I feel like I not only have a professional/expert by my side, but also a friend. She's supportive of my requests but also wary of the certain red flags in my life - intuitive and balanced in her guidance. Also, she's very patient with me. It's comforting. I definitely recommend her.

Amy was very insightful in determining my needs and care. She paid careful attention to my participation, looking for clues of any hidden pain or unresolved feelings. Her exercises were appropriate and pulled the feelings from me that were targeted for my grief. I was out of the country for several months when deep depression set in. online counseling with Amy led me from the darkness and on a path to recovery. I was very blessed to have her when I needed her most. I highly recommend her as a counselor. This process works if you participate!

This has been my first time trying out online counseling, and I was a little worried that the faceless interaction via the internet was going to make it impersonal and (for a lack of a better word) cold. Amy has however ensured that it has been a very safe and pleasant experience, and has helped me understand my problems better. Not only has she been extremely professional and knowledgeable in all our interactions, but also highly attentive, supportive, and kind.
I have truly enjoyed my time with Amy, and would highly recommend her to anybody in need of an attentive, responsive, and professional ear to listen their problems.
