About me

We cannot plan for everything that happens to us. We can, however, choose how we are going to respond to those things. Sometimes, life throws you a curve ball that you didn’t see coming and it has left you feeling overwhelmed and anxious. Maybe you have been in survival mode and have just been putting one foot in front of the other just to make it through the day and you lift your head one day to realize you don’t know where you are or which way to go. Maybe life seems like it has become a never-ending cycle of ups and downs, anxiety and depression. Or, do you just feel like you need some extra support to get you to where you want to be? Life shouldn’t be about just trudging along or treading water just to stay afloat.
Hi, my name is Amy Preston and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I received my master’s degree in mental health counseling in 2010. I received my Mississippi LPC in 2013. I have worked in community mental health, children’s day treatment, nursing home facilities, IOP/PHP, and corrections. I have worked with young children to seniors. Now, I am taking my own advice and opening my own private practice so that I can use my gifts to truly help people.
I work with mid to late adolescents and adults to help them develop healthier emotional regulation skills and a more positive mindset so that they have an improved connection to self and others and can see a clear path for their life so that they can start to feel joy again. I work with people who are ready to make positive changes in their life and who are invested in their future. I love to help people achieve their goals. I incorporate CBT techniques, positive psychology, acceptance, mindfulness, and life coaching techniques to help my client reach their personal goals, improve their mood, improve their daily functioning and their ability to manage difficult emotions, and also develop a stronger belief in themselves. I believe each individual is more than a diagnosis or a set of symptoms. To have lasting change, multiple aspects of an individual’s life must be looked at and worked on. I will provide a safe and accepting space for you to explore what it is that is holding you back. We will work together to achieve those goals you have dreamed of. I am looking forward to talking with you.

Amy is extremely professional. She does not make me feel like my thoughts or are invalid. I really enjoy texting throughout the day and I love that she takes time to review my journal entries and goes over them with me!
