About me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who has been working with people in mental health, schools and social service settings for the past 20 years. After earning my Master’s degree in Counseling from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon in 2005 I worked in community mental health providing home-based individual and family therapy with clients who were involved in the child welfare system. I have also worked in an eating disorder program helping people overcoming eating disorders, improve body image and develop self-acceptance. I also have knowledge and experience helping people from all different backgrounds overcome a variety of challenges including stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, family and relationship problems, self-esteem and parenting.
I partner with her clients using a focus on their strengths to help them cope with challenges, achieve their goals and find joy and meaning in their lives. I use an eclectic approach in therapy including person-centered and evidence-based treatment such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Brief Solution-Focused Treatment and Motivational Interviewing. I also enjoy practicing mindfulness and helping my clients explore the benefits of it for mental health.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Amy Sloper. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

This was my first time trying therapy and Amy exceeded all my expectations and has made it a truly remarkable experience. She's thoughtful and patient and truly listens to me. She asks insightful follow-up questions to help guide me to find answers and solutions myself rather than just tell me what the answers are. I also appreciate that she is there to offer a kind word and listen to me if I need to vent. I feel so lucky that I got paired with her on my first try and am glad to have her as a sounding-board whenever I need to talk. Would recommend 10/10.
