Anchin Liaw

(MA, LPC)

About Me

I have deep compassion for the ways individuals learn how to survive and engage in the world. We develop ways of relating to ourselves and the people around us through behaviors and patterns that have served us (or did serve us) in some way. However, when our ways of coping and experiencing ourselves in the world start to cause discomfort or dissatisfaction - or when we experience trauma or stressors - it’s important to have safe spaces to process healing and healthier ways of flourishing.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri and I have been journeying with individuals through their stories for over 3 years, most recently as a trauma therapist at a substance use facility. My clinical experience has allowed me to work with those who have been dealing with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, self-value, substance use, and multicultural concerns. I also enjoy working with members of the LGBTQ+ community or those who are experiencing identity/sexuality questions.

As a holistic-minded and trauma-informed therapist, I strive to assist you in learning more about yourself and your patterns in order to begin experiencing greater peace and satisfaction in your life. Whether there are multiple areas that are causing tension or a single issue, you deserve to experience safety in processing through who you are, where you’ve come from, and where you want and need to go in your life.

My counseling style is always dependent on the client and what you need or feel most comfortable with, but my general approach is very empathetic, person-centered, and strengths-based. I practice out of a variety of evidence-based modalities that we can collaborate together on which would be a good fit for you. Every person is complex and unique in who you are and what you’ve experienced, and I believe first and foremost in creating a compassionate, nonjudgmental, and validating environment. Anything you have to say is important to you, and therefore it is extremely important to me. It would be an honor to get to work with you.

We’ve only been working together a few weeks but I feel confident in entrusting Anchin with my feelings and knowing I’ll feel better at the end of our sessions! She’s been a great help

I was afraid of seeking help at first, but Anchin Liaw took that fear off me after a few messages only and now I feel really comfortable to share my feelings and to talk about my problems openly. Her empathic way of analyzing my situation and of asking questions that make me think more about it, help me a lot and I'm already looking forward to our next sessions.

Haven’t had a lot of time with Anchin, but for the time that I have interacted with her, she has always been extremely supportive, helps me organize my thoughts and responds in a timely manner. So far I’m enjoying my experience :)
