Andrea Schachtner, LPC
About me
Hello! My name is Andrea and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) with over ten years of experience. I have worked in therapeutic settings including intensive outpatient, outpatient, and private practice. I have worked primarily with adults affected by depression, anxiety, substance use, trauma, personality disorders, and relationship challenges in individual, group, and family sessions.
After graduating with my undergraduate degree in psychology in my home state of Wisconsin, I moved to Maine for graduate school in 2010. I received my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2012.
My approach to therapy is client-centered: clients really are the experts in their own lives. We all need help at times, and I am there to help guide, challenge, and support a client through their discovery process. I use a mix of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and other Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approaches to assist clients in seeking skills, solutions, and contentment with their decisions.
