Angela Caswell

About Me

I completed my undergraduate degree in social work at Lubbock Christian University. From there, I went to the University of Texas in Arlington and completed my Master of Science in Social Work degree in eighteen months. My studies and work experience focused primarily on children and families.

I believe in preserving the family unit when possible and giving them the tools to succeed. I have also worked in the mental health field, guiding people to resources, helping people through crisis, and oftentimes simply providing a listening ear. Though I haven't been part of the workforce for a few years, due to being a military wife and stay at home mom, I am often the friend that people come to when they need help, advice, or are in crisis. I am an empathetic, active listener.

I can often sort through the "fluff" and get through to the heart of what is bothering a person. I offer practical wisdom that I would be willing to carry out in a similar situation, and that aligns with their personal belief system. I am a Christian, and that shapes how I talk and listen, but I do not force that on others. Speaking up for yourself takes great courage, and I applaud anyone taking that step, whether they choose me as the person to help them through their struggles or not. However, if you do work with me, I will walk the journey with you to the best of my abilities.

Angela is awesome! She's everything and more I could hope for in someone to talk to.

Angela Caswell has been a real help in the first week of my free trial. I like it that I can put down my feelings when I am feeling them and not have to try to remember them until a visit with a therapist. When she e-mails me back, she always says something that makes sense to me and I give it a try and it helps. I don't know how I ever got along without her.

I love Angela and her really sweet spirit. She is always prompt to respond and is a good listener (even in written word). She does a good job at being specific in her response and really cares about me and how I'm doing. I 100% recommend her!

Angela has been a wonderful presence in my life. In the short time we've worked together so far, she has helped me by asking clarifying questions that encouraged me to sort out feelings and discover what I really want. She has done this without judgment, despite respectfully sharing that her beliefs differ from mine. I appreciate that, it reminds me that she is a real person too, with opinions and thoughts and feelings. But, I appreciate it even more that she's able to put on her therapist hat and be open to what I'm going through.

More than once, in conversations with loved ones, I find myself saying, "My therapist asked me this" or "When I was explaining this to my therapist, I realized..." And these moments helped me recognize my own growth, and what I was already gaining from the process.

I highly recommend this's like a pen pal who's also a therapist! I've never been to a therapist before, so I have no basis for comparison. But, responses are on your terms, when it's convenient for you, allowing you time to organize your thoughts. Also, the ability to re-read what you said earlier really lets you reflect and recognize your own growth and the way you've responded to the process.
