My name is Angela McClain. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor (LCAC) in the State of Kansas. I am also a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Nebraska, where I am originally from.
Yes, I am originally born and raised in Nebraska. However, I moved to Kansas in 2013 after marrying a man who is born and bred here in Kansas and have loved being here ever since.
I love spending time with my best friend, aka my husband, my 3 amazing, grown children, 6 unbelievable grandchildren, two step-daughters, and the rest of my family and friends who mean the world to me. I am extremely fortunate to come from a very large, eclectic, and sometimes “unpredictable” family, whom I wouldn’t trade for the world. Coming from a very large family, I have a lot of first-hand experience and understanding related to a person’s “family of origin” dynamics, strengths, and/or challenges.
I graduated from Bellevue University, located in Bellevue, NE, with a Master's Degree in Human Services-Clinical Counseling and a subsequent Master's Degree in Advanced Clinical Counseling. I have also completed extensive education and training in addictions evaluation and counseling. I was fortunate to have completed my clinical internships at agencies working with mental/behavioral health and addiction disorders, located in Lincoln, NE. While training at these agencies, I received extensive training and outstanding mentoring in all levels of care, including, residential, inpatient, intensive outpatient, outpatient, and aftercare services.
I am extremely passionate and dedicated to my chosen career field and truly believe it "chose me". I feel it is a privilege and honor when clients allow me into their lives, often despite many losses, trauma, stress, and hurts they have experienced. I have a wide range of skills and interests, including, co-occurring disorders assessments and therapeutic interventions, couples and family therapy, anxiety disorders, trauma-related disorders, severe and persistent mental health clients, both male and female-specific challenges, LGBT, and personality disorders to name a few of my specialties. I have been EMDR educated, trained and experienced working with clients on difficult issues and/or challenges experienced throughout their lives. I’ve been fortunate to have worked with children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric clients. I specialize in all mental/behavioral health disorders, substance abuse/addictions disorders, and relationship issues, including individual, couples, family, and group therapy services and interventions.
My number 1 priority is always on the client b/c each client deserves to be treated with the highest level of dignity, respect, and effective care/treatment. I am so glad you have gotten an opportunity to learn a little more about me and look forward to hearing from you very soon.
