My name is Angela Thompson and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with the State of Texas, as well as I have obtained a certification in trauma therapy from Trauma Care Institute, a program of Trauma Support Services of North Texas. I completed my undergraduate studies at Tarleton State University in psychology, and I completed my graduate degree in Counseling Psychology also at Tarleton State University. My experience centers around using an eclectic therapy approach incorporating theories such as DBT (Dialectical Behavioral therapy), Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Existentialism, and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) ,to increase insight and self-awareness. I have worked with adults in various therapeutic settings including individual, family, outpatient, and inpatient treatment programs who have struggled with various mental health struggles such as anxiety, depression, substance abuse, grief, and trauma. I believe the therapeutic relationship can cultivate change by providing safety, empathy, compassion, and a sense of security. I believe that as individuals we all have the capability to accomplish our goals and thrive despite the circumstances that have surrounded us, without denying the reality of the circumstances. There are some days in life that seem harder than others, they even may last longer than we hope, but despite what has come to break you, you are still standing. I believe that you have the power within you to continue to stand and stand stronger than before. I would be honored to work with you!

Angela is a great counselor. She is easy to talk too and helps you understand things from a perspective that is not your own. I have confidence that she will help guide me to a better, healthier, happier me.
I have had more than 10 counselors in my lifetime but i would easily say that Angela is my favorite. She is kind and understanding but also pushes me to improve myself and my mental health. She gives me topics to think about and always messages me throughout the week just to check on how I’m doing. I fully trust her with all my thoughts and emotions, which was hard for me to do with other counselors. I would recommend her to everyone, she is a wonderful person.
