Dr. Anita Elderkin

About Me

Thank you for considering me as your counselor. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, in the state of Idaho with a PhD in Clinical Psychology. I have many years of experience working with adults regarding a variety of mental health and emotional problems, and have worked in the field since 2003. My primary specialty is grief and bereavement counseling. I am Certified in Thanatology: Death, Dying, and Bereavement through the Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC). I have substantial experience working with bereaved parents and spouses, as well as suicide and homicide survivors. I also have specialized training and experience working with issues related to aging, chronic and terminal illness, and the impact of physical illness on mental health. However, my training and experience runs the gamut of psychological and emotional distress.

I will help facilitate your personal growth through the implementation of a variety of evidence-based techniques including mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy, narrative therapy, meaning-making, and many others especially those related to cognitive behavioral therapy. I believe you are the subject-matter expert in your own life, and therefore you are the most important aspect of the collaboration which occurs within the therapeutic process.
