Dr. Anita Pedersen-Pennock, Psychologist
About me
When you are going through a difficult time in your life, it can feel like you are all alone, and that no one else could possibly understand what you're going through. I understand how hard that can feel. As your therapist, I believe my role is to walk along side you, helping you see ways you can address your most troubling issues. Also, I value the importance of a good laugh, and I think it's very important to be warm and genuine with my clients. I see us as partners in this process of building a greater sense of mastery over your life.
I am a clinical psychologist, licensed to practice in the state of California. I have several years providing therapy to adults, youth, and families. My main specialty areas are parenting issues, depression, anxiety, family conflict, and LGBT issues. I also have expertise in the areas of infertility issues, as well as postpartum (after birth) or peripartum (during pregnancy) depression and anxiety problems. I use primarily cognitive and behavioral techniques in my work with clients, and also I emphasize several person-centered and mindfulness approaches. Overall, I consider myself an integrative therapist, using multiple techniques as they are relevant to a particular client's needs.
I am happy to answer any questions you have about my training and expertise. I understand that choosing a counselor is a difficult decision. Whether or not you choose me, I wish you well on this journey.
