I have been a therapist for just over 10 years now, and I reside in New Hampshire.
I received my MSW (Master's of Social Work) in 2007, from the University of Maryland at Baltimore, School of Social Work.
Confiding in a stranger about your most sensitive and vulnerable thoughts and feelings is never easy, and can often be downright scary. If you are hoping to find a counselor who can help ease the discomfort of beginning, and staying engaged in therapy, I believe I can help. My clients have described me as, "compassionate, direct, real, and extremely effective." Counseling approaches are never, "one-size-fits-all," as each client is different. One of my top priorities is to help you identify and draw on your strengths in order to formulate the best treatment plan for you.
The crux of my work has been with active duty military personnel and/or Veterans (including their families), in addressing post-traumatic stress and (re)adjustment from military life. Additionally, I have significant experience treating depression (including postpartum), anxiety, and substance related issues. I also have experience working with blended families.
My work is strengthened by my extensive training in, and use of, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure and portions of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. I also incorporate and encourage a Mindfulness based practice through education, exploring and experimenting with mindfulness techniques/exercises.
