Welcome to Better Help! I am Ann Garvey, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Connecticut. I hold both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Social Work and graduated with the highest honors, and have mentored many Social Worker’s going through similar programs. I am professionally trained and experienced in working with Young Adults, Adults, Couples and Adolescents with a variety of mental health and relationship concerns. I have earned additional certificates of concentrated training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
Are you exploring ways to feel more connected and improve relationships? Are you experiencing feelings of anxiety or depression or have a lack of focus or motivation? Are you having difficulty adjusting to a new transition in your life? You are not alone in your struggles. I can help! I am passionate about helping my clients maneuver through life transitions. I walk hand in hand with my clients empowering them to develop effective solutions to their unique challenges. What distinguishes me from other clinicians is the breadth of my experience and long-standing career in a helping profession. My approach is to provide a safe place where my clients feel seen, heard and accepted without judgment while working to achieve personal growth and wellness. I utilize an eclectic evidence-based therapeutic model with interactive cognitive behavioral techniques to assist my clients in reaching their goals beyond their expectations.
Through my nurturing hands on style, I have helped many people navigate various transitions in their lives. I have watched my client’s gain the strength and confidence they were missing and improve the way they feel about themselves. Investing in oneself through time, commitment, and a willingness to engage in therapy is courageous. I appreciate the vulnerability and effort it takes in finding a therapist that is right for you, and I am devoted to guiding you through the process. I believe the most important aspect in psychotherapy is the relationship between therapist and client, and I look forward to collaborating with you.

I have done therapy in the past in different capacities, but my work with Ann has been the most deep-digging, extensive, and effective therapy I have ever experienced. She has supported me through difficult circumstances and has given me the tools to take on a new perspective with my life and my experiences. While therapy is dependant on the effort put in by the client, Ann makes it easy to better yourself and grow. Her expertise & positive energy, matched with BetterHelp's video-chat and messaging functions, have completely transformed my relationship with therapy and myself.
My experience with Ann has been so great. When I was matched with her I was glad to see she offered support in areas I knew I needed and was interested in. In a month of working with her I have already learned a lot about myself and the way I interact with others. I was very fortunate to be matched with her.
Ann is extremely helpful and knows my needs and wants, as we continue to work on my progress.
Ann has been amazing in just the short time I’ve known her. She really interpreted my struggles in a way that makes sense to me- she helped me see and understand my emotions/anxiety. Highly professional, very warm and welcoming!
I have already recommended BetterHelp to 2 friends, 2 family members and my entire yoga community of advanced Yoga Teacher Trainees. I have had 2 sessions with Ann. She read all of my intake responses and was able to identify some areas for exploration immediately. She is warm, gentle, kind, validating, intelligent, funny and authentic. I highly recommend this gifted counselor to anyone on a mission of healing.
