About Me
Life is often full of unexpected twists and turns that can leave us wondering what just happened. My clinical career has primarily been spent helping people adjust to a new normal when life hasn't gone as expected. Whether that be the loss of a loved one, a traumatic event, a life-changing illness, or any other life altering event, I am available to assist with the bumps along the journey of life.
Over the past fifteen years, I have worked as a therapist helping individuals cope with grief and loss, chronic and terminal illnesses, traumatic events, abuse, crisis situations, depression, anxiety, parenting difficulties, relationship issues, adoption, educational challenges, substance abuse, and many other life experiences that require support to navigate. Sometimes we need someone to accompany us on the journey in order to adapt and deal with what arises in life. As a therapist, I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental, comfortable environment, which leads to opportunities to discuss life's challenges and how to face them.
My educational background includes a Master's of Social Work degree from the University of Utah (2005) and a Bachelor's Degree in Family and Human Development (2001) from Utah State University. Over the years, I have had many opportunities to supervise and mentor social work interns and new graduates.
In addition to my clinical experience, I have also spent the past five years homeschooling my children and I am intimately acquainted with the challenges related to parenting and education. My life experiences also include living in Central America and on an Indian Reservation. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, running, baking, hiking, practicing yoga, spending time outside, or enjoying a good book.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Anna Heaps. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
This is my second time coming to see her. I think she’s fantastic and has been able to help me through some really challenging circumstances
I accidentally chose "strongly disagree" in my response to the question "My therapist responds to me a in a timely manner" when I meant to respond "strongly agree". She is very quick in her responses and is an amazing therapist who is very supportive.
She is very supportive. She does not try to judge my situation or tell me what to do. She sees my situation as I see it. She works to understand me first, then support my goals!
Anna is amazing! She is unbiased, kind, very responsive, and she really feels like a friend. She has helped me through relationship and family conflicts, work and school problems, body issues, life changes, past traumas, etc. I can truly say I feel like my mental health has improved since meeting with her.
Anna has been great to listen to me talk through past trauma and just give advice on all areas of my life as little things come up. The messaging has been great to just keep her apprised of how things are going and how I’m adjusting to a new job and the calling is great to really talk through things.
She’s helpful and comes prepared with worksheets
She really understands me. I really appreciate her helping. 10 stars Iv only been talking to her for about 2 weeks and I’m already getting to a better place in my life.
She has been a great help. She is empathetic and a good listener.
Anna is a very compassionate and caring therapist! She always listens to my concerns and helps me understand and ways to deal!! Love Anna for my therapist!
Anna is very personable, experienced and has very good suggestions. She is timely and available. She has great insights and also provides you with helpful resources to assist you with self-discovery with improved accountability. She has been an asset for making progress toward my personal goals.
Anna has helped me to deal with the loss of my mother, my best friend. She also understands the trials of being a teacher during a pandemic.
Anna has been amazing. She always listens to what I have to say, acknowledges it, then helps me find ways to make my situation better. She has been a wonderful experience for a first timer like me seeking out a counselor.
Anna has been very good at helping me feel comfortable and fight my anxieties and challenges I have been feeling. She is very good at keeping up with me and checking in with me and has amazing patience! She is truely great!
Anna is really incredible. She is very responsive, and she really takes the time to listen and offer support and guidance. She makes me feel listened to and cared about, and she's given me a lot of tools to help me manage the issues that I'm struggling with.
I feel incredibly fortunate that I was matched with Anna, and because of her I've recommended BetterHelp to several friends and family members who are interested in seeking therapy and counseling.
Anna was very open since we first started therapy. She listens and lets you talk things through, but gives insight and ideas to help. It’s different than doing traditional therapy in the sense it’s in your own home, but I would recommend Anna to anyone!
She has been very helpful.
Anna was the second person I was matched with as my first didn’t work out. From the start, she was a better match for me. She engages from the beginning and is very responsive!
She is amazing and has helped me a lot! She gave me different exercises to work on when I am feeling anxious or just feeling any kind of way and they have really helped me immensely. I really recommend talking with Anna she is just the sweetest and really takes the time to listen to you and write you back.
